Miss Lily Wilkinson, a 1916 graduate of Valley City Normal School, received her award in Williston during a Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority meeting. Lily organized the Sorority in 1947. After brief teaching appointments, Miss Wilkinson assumed the position of principal at Central Elementary School in Williston, ND, and held that position for forty-two years. She has been named "Teacher of the Year" and has been active in several educational and civic organizations. In 1961, the Wilkinson Elementary School in Williston, ND was named in her honor.
