Owner of Summit Physical Therapy and Sports Performance, PC in Carrington, ND
What first interested you in VCSU? How did you decide to come to VCSU?
Coach Dew had contacted me about playing college football. There were a couple of other former Carrington athletes there playing football (Rod Skytland and Dave Schramm) and my brother, Cory, also was attending VCSU at the time. After visiting the campus and meeting some of the staff, it was an easy decision. It really felt like home and a natural fit for me.
What clubs or activities were you involved in during your time at VCSU?
Varsity Football 4 years
Intramural sports
Please list any recent accomplishments you would like to share with the VCSU community (professional or personal).
After VCSU, I attended UND and obtained a degree in Physical Therapy in 1991. In 1997, I bought a Physical Therapy clinic in Carrington where I have been an owner and operator since.
I married Layne (Holcomb) ‘92 in 1994 and we have 3 children. My oldest, Brady ‘19, is also a VCSU and UND Physical Therapy grad. He currently works in my clinic with me and is engaged to VCSU grad Maara Nelson ‘21. My middle son, Payton, is an NDSU grad and currently in Physical Therapy School at UJ. My daughter Brynn will be attending VCSU this fall and studying elementary education.
What are your interests outside of work (Hobbies, volunteerism, interests, goals)?
I have been the head football coach in Carrington for 10 years. I also enjoy fishing, hunting, working out and spending time with family.
What is your fondest memory of your college years?
The close knit, family feel of VCSU. Also, the life lessons learned from Coach Dew, the success of our football teams from '85-'88 and the friendships that still exist today.
Do you have any advice for current VCSU students?
Get involved in as many things as you can, get to know as many people as you can. VCSU is a terrific university. Take advantage of your time there and what it has to offer.
