Kolstoe, Oliver "Bud"
Oliver Bud Kolstoe was born in Canton, South Dakota, but was raised in Valley City. He attended all grades of the college operated laboratory school and graduated from College High. In 1941 Dr. Kolstoe graduated from Valley City State College with a B.A. in Education. Bud served as a First Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps from 1941 to 1945. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal, the European Theatre Ribbon and an individual citation. Returning to North Dakota, Dr. Kolstoe served as a public school administrator. He completed his master's degree in psychology at the University of North Dakota and requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy in Special Education and Educational Psychology were completed at the State University of Iowa in 1952. Dr. Kolstoe has a distinguished career in higher education. Since 1965 he has been on staff at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, Colorado, where he as held several positions. Currently, Dr. Kolstoe is Department Chairman of Special Education. He has authored over forty books and articles for publication and is in demand as a lecturer, workshop presenter and consultant.
