Paulson, William L.

Mr. Paulson, presently serving as Senior Associate Justice of North Dakota Supreme Court, graduated from Valley City State Teachers College in 1935. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Dakota in 1937 and was admitted to the North Dakota Bar Association later that same year. Judge Paulson returned to Valley City and established a private practice until 1941 when he was elected Barnes County States Attorney. He served in that capacity for 26 years. In 1966 Judge Paulson was elected to a ten-year term as Associate Justice of the North Dakota Supreme Court. He was re-elected to that position in 1976 for a second term which expires in 1987. He has been active as a Chancellor of the Episcopal Church of North Dakota, Judge on National Awards Jury of Freedoms Foundation, recipient of the Sioux Award, President of the Valley City area UND Alumni Association, and past exalted ruler of the Valley City Elks.
